Languishing in the bottom of boxes and safely locked away for posterity this rare Lance Ellington track originally penned in 1987 and produced at Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis’ Flyte Tyme studios in 1990 found huge love in Northern Soul clubs off the cassette demo before emerging on the A&M label. This is a remastered version of the track that has never officially been released to digital at any stage even though you’ll find YouTube clips of it ripped from vinyl and CD and hugely overpriced copies of the Album it formed the title track to on eBay.
So, as lock downs brought Lance and Peter back together again (albeit over the internet) for the first time in over two decades, they not only made new versions of this track to be released later in 2022 but also new material, new versions of old material and a decision to release to digital the old material. Phew! In 1991 Lance and Pete followed their own paths down ultimately different but hugely successful music careers after their debut never reached the original expectations of success, but the music still holds up.
Pleasure and Pain for sure. The lost tapes are found.
